Affordable Housing Scheme - What? Why? and How?

Affordable Housing is defined by using three key parameters like income level, the size of dwelling unit and affordability. In this scheme first two parameters are independent of each other, the third parameters are correlated to income and property price and can be termed as a dependent parameter. The state government started an affordable housing project in Gurgaon within this financial year. Affordable housing is the housing units that are affordable for the middle-income group of the society. In other words, it provides the housing need of lower or middle-income families. These affordable housing projects are constructed to full-fill the demand for their basic needs and living like clothing, education, medical facilities. Buying an affordable housing segment is becoming a critical issue in NCR where the population is increasing but not able to invest in the Realty market. According to rule, the housing segment is affordable if the cost of the property is less than 30% of the gross household income.

The first preference of Affordable Housing Project has been allotted to any housing property; it is the responsibility of government to look into rising demand for affordable housing segment. Other measures have been taken by the Haryana government to provide Affordable Housing Projects in Gurgaon and Sohna. •    No maintenance charge by developer till five years.
